Youth Service
Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
Many graduates of Aspen and Basalt High Schools have benefited from the Aspen Rotary Club College Scholarship program. As of 2018, Aspen Rotary, has awarded $698,000 in scholarships since approximately 1984 to 105 Aspen and Basalt High School students! The Club offers at least two premier four-year-scholarship to a graduating student from Aspen and Basalt High Schools. Recipients are awarded based on a combination of merit, need, extracurricular activities, and the student's exemplification of the Rotary motto "Service Above Self." These scholarships are funded through Aspen Rotary Club Ducky Derby proceeds.
The Aspen Rotary Club is proud to participate in the global Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program. Each year, high school students are provided the opportunity to travel abroad for an entire school year, living with native host families, attending local schools, learning about new cultures, and creating fellowship and goodwill across countries. This is an annual program in which students apply to participate. They must be good ambassadors for their communities and for Rotary in order to participate.
We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.
