President Scott Russell delivered a tutorial on Elk with a veritable heap of Elk trivia
 
Speaker:  Susan Wrubel, Executive Director of Aspen Film.  As a seasoned film industry executive, she has had a multi-faceted career in the global film industry, including film festivals and the non-profit arena.  Ms. Wrubel was accompanied by Ryan Brookes, Aspen Film Board Chair,  Elexa Ruth and Jessica Latham, also with Aspen FilmAll three also contributed to the presentationThe collective message was that Aspen Film is on a very positive path with the recent appointment of Ms. Wrubel to the Executive Director position, that the current roster of films being shown at Aspen Film 2017 is exceptional, and that their mission of 'Enlighten, Enrich, Educate and Entertain through Film' is working and working very well.  She went on to discuss the state of film and video in general and the difficulty of getting documentaries, 'small' movies and small budget projects readily available to the audience that wants this fare.   
 
Guests:  None this week.  Remember, there is no guest fee during October and November. 
 
Maurice Emmer informed us that there is a GoFundMe account set up for victims of the Las Vegas shooter.  This provides a means for any of us who want to help the victims to contribute.
 
President Russell announced that October and November Happy Bucks will be going to Christmas Wish.
 
Bridges to Prosperity will present their program at the October 12 meeting.  Very inspiring!
 
Lorraine advises that the $180.00 raised by the special raffle will go directly to Holiday Baskets to give them some advance funding.

Raffle:  A gift card worth $500.00 was put up for the raffle so the price of a ticket went up to $10.00.  The gift card was for Gorsuch and was a left over from The Ducky Derby silent auction, per Todd BrewerHeidi Hoffman was the lucky winner.  
 
Happy Bucks:
Kathy K.--Thanks to the Community for all the support for the recent College Fair.  She is also happy that her son, Chris, is receiving a fly-fishing award for his riparian and environmental work.
Susan G.--Happy that Happy Bucks is now going to Christmas Wish--"a great organization".
Heidi H.--Happy for a wonderful three week vacation starting with Rotterdam for a triathlon, a week in Rome and then a stay in the Italian countryside with Claudia, a former exchange student.  Also very happy for the Gorsuch gift card, won in the special raffle.
Steve W.--Happy about Christmas Wish which has given out hundreds of thousand of dollars over its' existence and happy that he has had 38 years of wedded bliss with his wife, Barbara, who coincidentally founded Christmas Wish. 
Ashton H.--Happy to be a part of Christmas Wish, living in the Roaring Fork Valley with her son who is about to be ten years old.
Mike K.--Happy for the start of the Major League baseball Playoffs and his Indians chances to win it all.
Dwayne R.--Happy for the Western College Fair and for the Military Service Workshop, attended by 102 students.  The Workshop has produced four Service Academy students in the recent past.
Norm B.--Happy that his wife's birthday is today.
Mike T.--To supplement Dwayne's happiness, Mike is happy for Wayne Valensky who is a graduate of the Air Force Flight School.
Scott R.--Happy for the starts of the baseball playoffs and is confident that his Cubs will again beat the Indians.
