Volume II, Issue 50, December 14, 2016

"Rotary changes us and those we serve. I believe we can change the world one life at a time." Paul Harris. As our president, Craig Melville, announced tonight. It may be a challenge to look out into this world with a glass half full, but when we connect to our fellow Rotarians the obstacle is less cumbersome and, if we allow it to, worth all the challenge of making a difference!

In this Issue:

- Who Are We?
- Holiday Connection and Gratitude
- Is the Chalet our new Breakfast Home?

Holiday Cheer with Our Rotarian Friends!

HAPPY BUCKS

If you aren't in the know (like Dwayne Romero) you will have noticed that each month our club has been choosing a different organization in the valley to send our Happy Bucks! This month is going to the Homeless Shelter, and I think its a perfect month for it.

Maurice Emmer shared his gratitude for the three host families enjoying dinner with us this evening. Dwayne share is cheer for an ARMY win after 15 dreadful years losing to NAVY. Mike Kasdrosky shared thanks to Chris Bendon for bringing him into the club.

As many more thanks were announced and some big bucks were collected, the memorable share for happiness comes from Steven Wickes, who shared a beautiful story of our clubs support to the Christmas Wish! This year the Christmas Wish has been supporting Bridging Bionics Foundation. The video attached is small clip of Aspen local, Nate White, who is defining the odds with the support of Bridging Bionics. This last year he became paralyzed, but is showing us all that anything we put our minds too we can make possible!

BOARD MEETING

If you didn't have the privilege of attending our last board meeting, you will learn that amongst all the discussion that was had, there was a chunk of dedicated time to define, WHO IS OUR CLUB? Are we young? or wise? Entrepreneurs? The average Joe (Zanin...who isn't average at all)? Who are we? I think it was Jon Kelly who put it best: we are advocates, we are people making a difference and finding purpose in our lives and in our community. Perhaps they weren't his exact words, but thats what I took from it. I encourage you all this holiday season, to take time to reflect on WHO our club really is and how you can encompass that each Thursday morning and perhaps the rest of the week. If we really are who Jon defined us as, we have big shoes to walk in each week.

On that note, I think 2017 is going to be a year not to miss. On these last weeks leading up to the new year, lets really put a meaning behind our WHO and lets make a difference in our community and change lives!

Board Minutes can be found on the website in the member information section.
